50 greatest hammers
Don't know if you've been following this. About to break into top ten. Dicksie has just come in at number 12. Should be higher, I think. WHO is your top ten?

Re: 50 greatest hammers
Fickle? I'd go for appearances for West Ham United over appearances for England, personally. Either way, wanting one or the other to top this thing isn't fickle by any means.

Moore got it.

Re: 50 greatest hammers
Hurst voted 4th
Brooking voted 3rd

It's down to Bobby and Bonzo for greatest Hammer.

You would think the one with over 100 caps for England would win this, but fans are fickle I suppose.

1. Moore
2. Brooking
3. Bonds

... for me... Trev proved it at international level for me which gives him the edge.... wasn't ofetn that we could say we had a TRUE international star on our books around that time but we did with Sir Trev... number 2 for me

Re: 50 greatest hammers
My top 3.

3 - Brooking
2 - Moore
1 - Bonds

However, I'd be surprised if the first two weren't the other way around, officially.

Re: 50 greatest hammers
Apart from Vic Watson, who I fully recognise IS a WH great, but who I didn't have the privilege to see, the rest of the 10 are mine, too. Almost in the right order, assuming Hurst is 4th.

Sad to say but lucky enough to have seen all (assuming top three are Moore Bonds Brooking) bar six of them. I'll let you guess which ones.

Re: 50 greatest hammers
Wasn't Peters the guy who played in every position at West Ham. I think Greenwood said he was 10 years ahead of his time.

The poor bloke is now suffering from dementia I understand.

Re: 50 greatest hammers
I know Peters gets a bad rap from some but I was lucky enough to see him play in his pomp, he scored some cracking goals for us, one in particular a sublime volley that had Leicester City's Peter Shilton, beaten all ends up, he was a great header of the ball as well, the far post rocket header being a specialty

I'm struggling with Lomas and Pike when John Sissons doesn't get in the 50.

Re: 50 greatest hammers
1) Moore
2) Bonds
3) Brooking
4) Hurst
5) Devonshire
6) FLS
7) Martin
8) Peters
9) Parkes
10) Pop Robson

Based on games played, pots won, international caps won, goals scored, entertainment value, passion for the club (hence Peters' low position) and whether I like them or not
